Charm School: Advice for the Thoroughly Modern Girl Prion, September 2007. Throughout the 1950s Girl Comic featured picture strips on guidance for young girls. Strict footcare regimes, daily manicures, sensible shoe shopping and good grooming were all firmly instilled into Girl readers.
The comic also ran a series "I want to be", that would advise on such suitable jobs as becoming a nanny, typist, air hostess or riding teacher.
